Effective on April 18, 2007, IGC suspended its USVI operations until such time as the USVI government declares that they have a legal process for the certification of a new post-secondary institution. IGC was granted 3 certificates by the Commissioner of Education of the USVI - 2 Certificates of Operation (an initial and a continuing) and 1 Certificate of Accreditation. Through actions out of our control, including unethical reporting by the news media, the Attorney General of the USVI has determined that the Commissioner of Education does not have the authority to grant certificates to post-secondary institutions. This implies that there is no process defined in the VI Code for the establishment of a new post-secondary institution. Until this matter is cleared up or a new way forward is found, IGC will not operate its academic programs.

The IGC Board, in October 2007 determined that it will cease all operations as of December 31, 2007.
